Abstract

This chapter will present how AI and Quantum Computing together can synergistically take the process of drug discovery and precision medicine to the next level. With AI possessing such powerful processing and analytic capabilities for large datasets, this enables the identification of novel drug candidates and optimization of clinical trial processes. Quantum Computing, with its unimaginable computational power, will be in a position to model such complex molecular interactions with much better accuracy in predicting the efficacy of drugs than any other classical approach. They work in collaboration to reduce timelines for drug development, slash costs drastically, and provide personalized treatment to the given individual's genetic, environment, and lifestyle factors. This chapter undertakes a review of the current applications, future trends, and challenges arising from integrating AI and Quantum Computing into pharmaceutical and healthcare industries because of their transformational impact on the future of medicine.
