Abstract

Innovative technologies such as mobile applications, web platforms, digital payments, blockchain, big data analytics, and artificial intelligence can significantly enhance health financing functions like revenue raising, pooling, and service purchasing. Transformative impact of digital solutions include Kenya's M-TIBA platform, India's Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which uses a digital Transaction Management System to support the entire patient journey from registration to claims payment, and Estonia's e-invoicing system. Successful implementation requires a robust digital ecosystem encompassing governance, infrastructure, and skilled human resources. This involves establishing dedicated digital health departments, developing regulatory frameworks, and ensuring data security and interoperability. Moreover, it is crucial to address challenges such as technology access inequities and weak health systems to maximize the benefits of digital health financing.
