Abstract

Climate change is one of today's most urgent challenges, resulting in rising global temperatures, melting ice caps, & increased weather extremes. It affects ecosystems by altering mean conditions and climate variability, and other connected changes such as increased ocean acidification & atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations. It also interacts with environmental stressors like degradation, defaunation, and fragmentation. Despite efforts to reduce the risks, human-caused climate change is causing severe and widespread disruption in nature, affecting lives of billions of people. We are experiencing longer droughts, longer, more severe fire seasons, more severe fire seasons, more violent storms, less ice and snow cover, floods and rising sea levels. Adaption options include increasing water conservation programs, upgrading stormwater infrastructure, building early warning systems for extreme heat events, and preparing for bigger storms through improved disaster preparedness and response. In this chapter, we discuss various issues related to climate change & its possible remediation.
