Abstract

Academy-Business Partnerships and the Role of College and University Boards illuminates a key power and control area of higher education institutions. This chapter reviews the history of these types of college and university boards and their roles and responsibilities. Some public institutions are part of larger regional or state-wide systems with varying laws, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the relationship between boards and other institutional stakeholder groups is explored including roles and responsibilities. Ethics and fiduciary responsibility are explored as major overarching concerns.
