Author's/Editor's Biography

Mohamud Sheikh (Ed.)
Mohamud Sheikh is a Senior Lecturer in International Health, Tropical and Infectious Diseases and Co-Director of Infectious Diseases Intelligence Programs at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, University of New South Wales. In his nearly 23 years of experience in International Health - Tropical and Communicable diseases control, he has conducted various public health works internationally in developing and developed countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Middle East and Australia respectively. He has been teaching Master of international public health courses for nearly 12 years thus drawing a wealth of knowledge in the field of global health. Dr Sheikh is an author and reviewer for international journals in the field of global health. He has also had numerous contributions to resource poor communities around the world through his charity and volunteer work, especially in Africa, Middle East, and Australia. He has contributed to the field of humanitarian and philanthropic work since the age of 8 and has recently launched his lifetime dream project –“Eradication of Preventable Blindness in Africa” – a remarkable humanitarian mission. He also heads two not for profit charitable organisations based in Australia and the Horn of Africa region.

Aziza Mahamoud (Ed.)
Aziza Mahamoud is currently an epidemiologist at Sidra Medical and Research Center in Doha, Qatar. She has extensive knowledge and experience that span public health, epidemiology and systems science domains. Prior to joining Sidra, she led the urban health complex systems modelling projects at the Wellesley Institute, a Toronto based population health research and policy institute. She also held other research positions in academia and governmental organizations in Canada. Her research primarily focused on developing computational models of disease transmission, conducting surveillance studies, and developing disease prevention and control policies. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatchewan, Canada and a BSc in the life sciences from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Canada. Her research interests include perinatal health, chronic disease prevention and control, health disparities, race/ethnicity and health, and the application of innovative systems science tools to design and evaluate effective policies.

Mowafa Househ (Ed.)
Mowafa Househ is an Assistant Professor and former Research Director at the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dr. Househ is also an adjunct professor at the University Of Victoria, School of Health Information Science, BC, Canada and is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Health Informatics in Developing Countries. Dr Househ’s primary research interests are on the use of information and communication technologies to empower patients and clinicians. His doctoral work focused on the empowerment of pharmacists, physicians, and academics in the use of collaborative technologies to facilitate knowledge translation research. His current work revolves on empowering patients through the use of social media, mobile health, and personal health records. Dr Househ is a respected and published author within health informatics community. He has published in leading health informatics journals such as theInternational Journal of Medical Informatics, The Yearbook of Medical Informatics, and Applied Clinical Informatics.
