Reviews and Testimonials
The new text Family Dynamics and Romantic Relationships in a Changing Society, edited by Nava R. Silton, covers a wide range of topics relevant to relationship science. Topics include general relationship dynamics; nontraditional arrangements (i.e., consensual nonmonogamy); sexuality; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning/queer (LGBTQ) relationships; culture; and parent-child relationships. Because so many topics are covered, the book is a bit unfocused, but despite this, it is very informative. As the title suggests, the topics in the book address the evolving nature of relationships in our society. The text could be a good resource for courses in psychology and sociology on marriage and family dynamics. Clinicians and scholars in developmental psychology would find a number of chapters of interest as well. The book is highly readable and would be appropriate for undergraduate or graduate courses.
