Vanessa Nizeyimana Louis
Vanessa N. Louis
is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, where she enriches the educational landscape through her teaching and leadership in the secondary science teacher preparation program. Her teaching portfolio includes courses in multicultural education, science methods, and field instruction, where she integrates her passion for equitable and inclusive pedagogy. Her research interests are deeply rooted in social justice and transformative education. She focuses on abolitionist teaching, anti-racist pedagogies, culturally relevant science education, research-practice partnerships, community cultural wealth, and teacher residencies and fellowships. Her scholarly work aims to dismantle traditional barriers in education and foster inclusive learning environments that empower students. Dr. Louis served for six years as a middle and high school science teacher and two years as an administrator and instructional coach.
