Dr.
U. Mohammed Iqbal
has been serving as a full-time Professor and Head of the Manufacturing Division in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, India, since 2015. He completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1996 from Madras University, Tamil Nadu, India. He earned his postgraduate degree in Production Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2000. He obtained his Ph.D. from the College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2014. With 25 years of teaching and research experience, he has published many papers in international journals and conferences. His research interests include metal forming, machining of advanced materials, metal joining, and metallurgical characterization. He is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Institution of Engineers (India), the Indian Society for Technical Education, the Powder Metallurgy Association of India, the Indian Welding Society, the Indian Institution of Welding, Society of Automotive Engineers, and Institution of Quality and Reliability. He has authored four book chapters and holds four patents. He has received project grants totalling Rs. 11 lakhs and Rs. 6 lakhs from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and RANE NSK Steering Systems Ltd., India. Additionally, he is an active reviewer of reputed journals and serves as a guest editor for two international journals.
