Thea Moore

Thea Moore is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapeutics and Clinical Research at the University of South Florida, Taneja College of Pharmacy. She is a graduate of University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, and licensed as a registered pharmacist in the State of Florida. She completed a residency and fellowship in psychiatric pharmacy in Kansas City, MO and is a board certified psychiatric pharmacist (BCPP.) During her career as a pharmacist, Dr. Moore has published several articles, and participated in numerous research projects in the area of psychiatry. She has trained many pharmacy residents and pharmacy students and collaborated in obtaining funding for research and other clinical activities. She was faculty at Florida A&M University and most recently worked at Lakeland Regional Medical Center as a pharmacotherapy specialist prior to joining the University of South Florida. She has a joint appointment with the Morsani College of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences and collaborates with other clinicians at University Psychiatry Center to provide patient education, medication reviews, consultation and research assistance. Dr. Moore has had a sustained interest in assisting underrepresented groups to access and excel in pharmacy. She has been the faculty advisor for Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) since 2012. She has also volunteered as a mentor and has enjoyed working with students to expose them to more aspects of pharmacy in programs like Upward Bound and Pre-Health Scholars Program. Dr. Moore has presented webinars on Faith and Pharmacy to expand community knowledge about what pharmacists can do and how they can serve the community. Dr. Moore’s professional interests include nutritional psychiatry, complementary and alternative medicine and wellness. Dr. Moore recently received a certificate as an Integrative Pharmacy Specialist and an ASHP WellBeing Ambassador certificate. Dr. Moore is an active member of National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
