Tawffeek A. S. Mohammed

Tawffeek A. S. Mohammed is an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies in the Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. His research interests span a broad interdisciplinary spectrum situated at the nexus of linguistics, language pedagogy, media studies, critical discourse analysis (CDA), translation and interpreting studies, computer-aided translation technology, computer-assisted language learning (CALL), and mobile-assisted language learning (MALL). His research focuses specifically on areas such as computer-assisted language learning, computer-assisted translation, computer-assisted interpreting, localization, corpus linguistics and digital humanities, especially in response to emerging trends and developments in the language and translation industries. He is the recipient of several academic distinctions, most notably the Mellon Professoriate Award for the 2024–2025 academic year.
