Tahira Batool

Tahira Batool is an accomplished biotechnologist, academic leader, and administrator with over seven years of experience in higher education and research. She holds a PhD in Biotechnology from University Malaysia Pahang and specializes in tissue culture, drug discovery, enzyme inhibition, and microbiology. Dr. Batool currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at the Women University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Bagh, where she also holds key administrative roles, including Coordinator of the Department of Allied Health Sciences and Controller of Examinations. A dedicated researcher, Dr. Batool has successfully led a Higher Education Commission (HEC)-funded research project on microbial production of L-asparaginase from waste. Her contributions to academia include numerous publications in high-impact journals, supervision of MPhil research projects, and participation in international conferences. In addition to her academic and research expertise, Dr. Batool has demonstrated exceptional leadership, having previously served as Director of Finance and Director of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research at her university. She is actively engaged in mentoring early-career female faculty members through the Women Empowerment and Mentorship Program (WEMP) of HEC National Academy of Higher Education. Dr. Batool's vision is to contribute to biotechnology education, research excellence, and women's empowerment in higher education, making a lasting impact on the academic and scientific community.
