Swetashree Purohit

Swetashree Purohit is an Assistant Professor of Zoology at the Department of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, C.V. Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar. She holds a Ph.D. in Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources from the Central University of Odisha, with academic training in Zoology from Utkal University and OUAT. Her research focuses on wildlife biology, particularly avian ecology, biodiversity, and the impacts of anthropogenic stressors such as noise and chemical pollution on ecosystem health. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Eastern Ghats, studying how habitat disturbances and environmental contaminants affect wildlife behavior and distribution. Dr. Purohit has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications spanning avian biology, herpetology, and conservation. She is also a strong advocate for citizen science and environmental education, serving as a regional reviewer for eBird and Regional Coordinator for Bird Count India in Odisha. She leads initiatives like The Bhubaneswar Bird Walks and contributes to wildlife census efforts and interpretation center development at Nandankanan Zoological Park. An avid birdwatcher, nature photographer, and writer, she blends scientific research with creative outreach to promote biodiversity conservation.
