Sureyya Yigit
Sureyya Yigit
is a Professor of Politics and International Relations at the School of Politics and Diplomacy at New Vision University in Tbilisi, Georgia. He received his PhD from Donetsk National University and has lectured at several universities in Scandinavia, Turkey, and Central Asia. His current research interests focus on the Ukraine crisis, NATO enlargement, British politics, Foreign Policy challenges of Small States, African development and post-communist transition. He is an Editorial Board member of the IGI Book Series Conflict Management - 3 Volumes, an International Academic Board member of RIPEA - Journal of Argentine Foreign Policy Research, an Associate Editor on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Green Business, a member of the Editorial Board of AcademCraft - Open access journal of education research and case studies, an Editorial Advisory Board Member for IGI Global Cases on Security, Safety and Risk Management, and member of the International Academic Council for the journal Global Affairs published by the Argentine Council for International Relations. He is also the senior consultant to ZDS – Women's Democracy Network Public Fund, a non-governmental organisation based in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, and a consultant to Aeropodium, a London-based business. Professor Yigit has recently published books entitled India-Mongolia Relations: Beyond Greater Central Asia in 2023, and Africa at Crossroads; Society, Security and Geopolitics published in April 2024. His recent research interests include: Nonquantitative Research: A Modern Primer; Village Institutes: A Turkish Contribution to Modern Education and Development; Can the European Union's Global Gateway Challenge China's Belt and Road Initiative?.; Miscalculated Cause-and-Effect: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine and Finland's Accession to NATO; United States Pivots to Asia: Underlying Reasons; Soft Power: An Enduring Notion in Contemporary International Politics; States, Sustainable Development, and Multilateral Environmental Agreements; It Takes Two to Tango: 2010 British Con-Dem Coalition; Sisyphean Goal: Sustainable Development; Water as Life for Susceptible Sustainability and Dithering Development; Empowered Women and Political Leadership; A Sustainable World: Imperative, Improbable, or Both?; The Journey Towards Sustainable Development; Post-Pandemic Higher Educational Challenges: Lessons Learnt From COVID-19; Margaret Thatcher and Domestic Politics: Thatcher, the Milk Snatcher; Margaret Thatcher and Foreign Policy: Iron Lady; and Globalisation: Four Theoretical Schools of Thought, China–Africa Multifaceted Collaboration, Paristroika and Sub-Saharan Africa: Linguistic Familiarity and Policy Challenges, all published as book chapters in 2024. He has published the following book chapters in 2025: The Origins of Structural Reform: Structural Adjustment, What and Where Did It Come From?, European and African Evaluation of Security Risks and the Geopolitics of Korea. A 180-page co-edited book entitled "Eastern Europe in Contemporary World Politics" will be published by Springer in July 2026.
