Sunghyun Ryoo Kang

Sunghyun R Kang is professor in the Department of Graphic Design at Iowa State University. She has an extensive research and publication background in the areas web design for visual communication and usability, design evaluation, design for diverse users. She has presented and published her research through the Design Research Society (DRS), the International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR), Emotion and Design Conference, and Human Computer Interaction International (HCII). She is currently conducting research through the Bailey Research Grant with the KER Unit at the Mayo Clinic on the design of medical decision aids and with the Thielen Student Health Center at Iowa State University on the design of decision aids for young women selecting birth control. Also she is conducting study in Snack Package Design for Children to enhance communication with regard to health snack choice sponsored by Nutrition and Wellness Research Center at Iowa State University. She has been teaching graduate course, graphic design and human Interaction, and conducted user study on various electronic devices including web, apps, cell phone, and iphone since she came to Iowa State University. She also teaches Advanced Typography, and all levels of Graphic Design studio classes.
