Shafiul Islam
After completing undergraduate with honours and post-graduation in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka, Dr. Shafiul Islam joined at the Department of Public Administration, University of Rajshahi in 2006 and presently working as a Professor in the same department. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) degree in 2015 for focusing on good governance in Bangladesh. He has participated in many national and international seminars, workshops and conferences at home and abroad and presented scholarly papers. About 30 book chapters and articles have been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals and books. In different capacities, He has already conducted as many as 30 research projects funded by the World Bank (WB), UNESCO, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Education, NAEM, UGC, Local Government Institute (LGI) under the Ministry of LGRD & Cooperative and University of Rajshahi Bangladesh. He has presented about 40 scholarly research papers at international conferences at home and abroad. Before joining the university, he was engaged in practical and professional journalism for more than 10 years and worked in different capacities such as Dhaka University Correspondent, and Staff Correspondent at different national Daily English and Bengali newspapers published from Dhaka. His research interest areas are public administration, public policy, governance, development, waste management, higher education, SDG, 4iR, media, youth development, social development, rural development, gender development, disaster management and governance, local government, public-private partnership, etc.
