Serdar Kipdemir

Assoc.Prof. Serdar Kipdemir Mudanya University Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences with the title of Associate Professor; I am conducting academic studies on Latin calligraphy, Typography and Writing Character Design. Through an interdisciplinary approach, I combine the theoretical foundations of this art with its practical applications in an original perspective. The art of calligraphy; a cultural heritage that bridges generations, is also a way of life that I am passionately committed to. My goal is to transform this ancient art beyond being a visual discipline - into a universal means of communication where cultures meet and history engages in dialogue with the present. I see the art of Latin calligraphy in our country; as a powerful means of expression that bears the traces of our cultural memory and reflects our identity. As I reveal the historical depth hidden in the anatomy of each letter, the philosophical dimension in each inkblot, I am not only limiting this ancient art to traditional forms, but also reinterpreting it through the ontology of the writing-let relationship. Based on the basic principles of the letter anatomy, I am on a mission to expand the possibilities of expression of this art by combining academic rigor and artistic sensitivity with font designs and experimental calligraphy techniques. Because I know that bringing the common memory of humanity to light is only possible through such interdisciplinary work that embraces the future with respect to the roots. We embark on a fascinating journey with our students, starting from the manuscripts of 15th-century Italian humanists, to the typographic revolutions of the 20th century. In this journey, we explore not only the formal features of letters, but also the cultural and aesthetic 'spirit' they carry. On international platforms, I bring to life my vision of making Turkey an important center of this universal art with its well-established calligraphy traditions. With interdisciplinary projects such as 'Poetics of Lenin Letters', I aim not only to carry out practical art work, but also to strengthen the theoretical foundations of calligraphy art by filling the academic gap in this field. This ancient art, nourished by the roots of Latin calligraphy, is a millennial dialogue of civilisation founded with writing instruments and inks - the common memory of humanity is manifested on paper. With my academic work and artistic productions, which I have conducted to ensure that my country has the right place in this universal art tradition, I continue to revive the deep-rooted traces of the cultural identity of our nation - blending the innovative breaths of contemporary interpretations with the loyalty of classical techniques.
