Sarbani Giri
Sarbani Giri
is involved in teaching and research for last 26 years in Molecular and Cell Biology, Genetics, Toxicology and Environmental Health at Department of Life Science and Bioinformatics, Assam University, Silchar. She is recipient of the DBT Overseas Associateship and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum Fellowship by Govt. of India.She received research training in Metabolomics and Cancer Biology from Laboratory of Metabolism, National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health, Maryland USA (2005- 2006) and Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley, USA,(2010) respectively. Her research focus is mainly cancer biology with special emphasis on role of tight junction integrity, downstream signalling pathways involved and environmental health assessment with major focus on genetic toxicology.Besides she served as the departmental Head for four times and as Dean, School of Life Sciences besides being member of several academic bodies.She has published nearly 65 papers in various reputed scientific journals and guided nearly 26 Ph.D. scholars under her supervision.
