Samantha Thompson

Samantha Thompson ’s education and research background reflected a dedication to assessing the major health gaps to underserved communities in ambulatory care and mental health advocacy. After completing her Doctor of Pharmacy at Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, she successfully completed her an Academic Pharmacy Research Fellow in 2018. Her primary patient base consisted of underserved minority members of the community that were being treated for hypertension, type II diabetes, gout, cancer, HIV, and other infectious diseases. From 2018-2021 she was the clinical HIV pharmacist at the Florida Department of Health-Duval. In 2021 she was invited to be a tenure track Assistant Professor of Advanced Pharmacy Practice at Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy in Duval County, Florida. As an Assistant Professor, she has continued to nurture national research interest in care in filling healthcare gaps in underserved minority patients, especially in urban areas. She currently conducts yearly research examining the mental health touch points of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians during and post COVID-19 pandemic as well as possible resources to fill those gaps of care.
