Rogelio Becerra Songolo
Rogelio Becerra Songolo
received his bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2013, and went on to earn his master’s degree in educational leadership from DePaul University in 2016. Throughout his career, Rogelio has worked to provide families of students from minoritized backgrounds with resources designed for academic success. His current research interests include the analysis of social dynamics that affect children’s early math achievement. He understands that early childhood is a crucial phase for cognitive and socioemotional development– both being key factors for success later on in life. Now a doctoral candidate at UC San Diego, Rogelio collaborates in research that focuses on social network analysis, as well as out-of-school educational programming. Through his dissertation work, Rogelio will leverage his growing understanding of human development to increase the field’s recognition of Hispanic children’s early math development. Rogelio hopes that his continued exposure to scholarly work will shed light on how he can assist minoritized families in nurturing their children’s mathematical dexterity.
