Ramanujam Meganathan
, presently Professor of English (Language Education) in the Department of Education in Languages and Acting Head, International Relations Division, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, is interested in English language education, curriculum and materials development, language-in-education policy, teacher professional development. He was one of the members of the Curriculum Group of NCERT, which coordinated the nation-wide exercise of developing the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) -2005 and also an author coordinator of the textbook in English for Class X and one of the authors of the textbook in English for class VI developed as a follow up to NCF – 2005. He was the team leader for the curriculum reform exercise in the state of Rajasthan for language Education at the school level and headed the textbook development exercise for classes VI to VIII and part of the textbook development processes and teacher training materials development in the states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. He has published a number of papers in English language teaching, language policy, language curriculum and developed audio-video programmes for learning-teaching of English. The research studies conducted include: language education, multilingualism, language policy and school management, language curriculum implementation His poetry book, Sounds of Silence was published in 2008 and he has been writing in Tamil and in English. He has authored many textbooks for school education and higher education. The following two are his noted recent publications i. Language Across the Curriculum was published by Pearson in 2019 ii. Knowledge, Education and Curriculum published by Pearson in September 2022 (jointly with Prof. M.V. Srinivasan).
