Priscilla Barbosa Sales de Albuquerque
Priscilla Albuquerque
has a degree in Biomedicine, a master's degree in Biological Sciences/UFPE (2013), a PhD in Biology applied to health from the iLIKA/UFPE (2017), and a specialization in Aesthetic Biomedicine from Nepuga (2018). Between September 2015 and September 2016, she completed a sandwich doctorate (PDSE) and co-tutorship at the University of Minho (Braga/Portugal), with an exchange program at the University of Reading (Reading/England). She is currently an adjunct professor at the Institute of Biological Sciences (ICB) of the University of Pernambuco (UPE), where she teaches biochemistry for the biological sciences, nursing, medicine, and dentistry courses. She is also a researcher at the Laboratory of Bioprospection and Applied Ethnopharmatoxicology (LABEA) of the UPE campus Garanhuns and leader of the line research on the extraction, characterization, and biotechnological application of polysaccharides in the health and food sectors on the same campus, working on the following topics: extraction and physical-chemical characterization of polysaccharides with emphasis on galactomannans; evaluation of the biological activities of polysaccharides; polysaccharide rheology; immobilization of natural products in polysaccharide matrices; and treatment of aesthetic dysfunctions with natural products. He also coordinates the extension project “Belezas do Agreste”, whose main objective is to promote the integrality of actions aimed at health and well-being through the digital dissemination of quality content (@belezasdoagreste.upe) and the production of natural soaps and moisturizers for the skin care routine.
