Peter Smith
, an Emeritus Professor at the University of Sunderland, is a distinguished researcher with a broad range of interests in the subject of computer science, management and doctoral education. He has made significant contributions to academia, having published over 300 research outputs, including seven textbooks, as well as numerous papers in esteemed journals and conferences. He has a keen interest in working with doctoral students, both as a supervisor and an examiner, and has worked in multiple projects related to higher education. He is well-versed in research strategy, doctoral education, and research development. He has authored a textbook that serves as a guide for PhD students during their viva examinations. In addition to his academic expertise, he possesses substantial experience in leadership and management. Previously, he has managed large teams of over 250 staff members and handled budgets exceeding £10 million.
