Peter Loos

Professor Dr. Peter Loos (1960) is director of the Institute for Information Systems (IWi) at the German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and head of the Chair of Business Administration and Information Systems at Saarland University. His research activities include business process management, information modeling, enterprise systems, software development as well as implementation of information systems. Professor Loos studied business administration and information systems at the University of Saarland and completed his degree (Dipl.-Kfm.) in 1984. He wrote his PhD thesis on the issue of data modeling in manufacturing systems – awarded with the Dr.-Eduard-Martin-Preis – in 1991 as a research assistant at the Institute for Information Systems (directed by Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. August-Wilhelm Scheer). In 1997, Professor Loos received the venia legendi in business administration. During his earlier career Professor Loos had been chair of information systems & management at the University of Mainz (2002-2005), chair of information systems & management at Chemnitz University of Technology (1998-2002), deputy chair at University of Münster as well as lecturer (Privatdozent) at Saarland University. Furthermore, he had worked for 6 years as manager of the software development department at the software and consulting company IDS Scheer AG. Professor Loos has written several books, contributed to 30 books and published more than 100 papers in journals and proceedings.
