Patrick Murphy

Patrick Murphy , PhD, NCC, LPC-MHSP graduated with his Masters of Science in Community Agency Counseling from University of Memphis in 2008 and his Doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision from Auburn University in 2018. He is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Professional Counseling at Lindsey Wilson College. He has multiple years of experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate counseling courses on topics such as group counseling, foundations of counseling, and multicultural counseling. Additionally, he is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider in Tennessee since 2012 . Dr. Murphy has provided counseling services in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, hospital settings, addiction facilities, and assisted living facilities. He provides counseling on a plethora of issues, but specializes in working with anxiety, trauma, veterans, and military service members. He pursues research in a wide range of topics with focus primarily on counselor training and supervision, especially around multicultural competencies with a focus on intersections of identities. Additional research interest includes engaging with veterans/military service members with counseling and crisis intervention.
