Panchalingam Suntharalingam
Panchalingam Suntharalingam
is the Associate Professor for International Partnerships and Recruitment for the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at Birmingham City University. He is also the Course Director for MA Design and Visualisation at Birmingham City University. He teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Design and Visualisation, Product Design, Interior Architecture and Design in the UK, India, Hong Kong and China. Dr Suntharalingam's areas of expertise and interests include, Design and Visualisation, Engineering Product Design, Industrial Design, Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programmes, Software Programming, Enterprise Development, Medical Product Design, Interior Products, Applied Research, Rapid Prototyping and Computer Aided Design (CAD). Dr Suntharalingam has extensive design and scientific knowledge in interdisciplinary fields and holds a patent for a medical product that has sold over 50,000 in the USA and over 8000 in the UK. He has published numerous international papers on medical products and well known opening CGI title sequences featured on BBC and ITV networks such as 'Top Gear'. His wealth of experience with the manufacturing industry includes 20 'Knowledge Transfer Partnerships', with companies such as AGA Rangemaster and Evac+Chair International, gaining four ‘Outstanding’ Innovate UK awards for achievement in innovation. In 2020, one of his KTP’s was shortlisted for the Best of the Best KTP’s in the United Kingdom. He is also an external examiner at various national and international universities at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level.
