Pamela Luft

Pamela Luft is a professor emerita at Kent State University and Past President of the Council on Education of the Deaf, a consortium of eight organizations dedicated to quality education for all deaf and hard of hearing students. This led to two video webcasts with a team of 5 CED officers during Summer 2020, national and statewide letters to professionals regarding current significant shortages in teachers of DHH students during her tenure as President, and an upcoming article being published in the American Annals of the Deaf. She received her M.Ed. in Deaf Education from McDaniel College, and an M.S. in Technology for Persons with Disabilities from the Johns Hopkins University. Her Ph.D. is from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Special Education with a focus in transition-to-adulthood. She worked in public, special day, and residential schools as a teacher, behavior specialist, career coordinator, and program administrator before getting her doctorate.
