Oluyomi Stephen Adeyemi
OS Adeyemi
is a professor of biochemistry, with a research focus on medicinal biochemistry, and toxicology. Currently, OS Adeyemi is a faculty member at Bowen University, Nigeria, where he teaches biochemistry to undergraduate and postgraduate classes. OS Adeyemi, a scholar and passionate academic mentor, believes that teaching, research, and community service have a significant impact on people's lives and he has successfully supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate students in the biochemistry program both within and outside of Nigeria. In addition, he encourages and supports academic strategies that could foster academic excellence. In particular, his research engagements have contributed to efforts aimed at identifying novel treatment strategies through medicinal and toxicological evaluation of natural and synthetic molecules. OS Adeyemi has over 150 research publications, comprising articles, books, and chapters in books. On several occasions, he has served as an external assessor and/or examiner for PhD or professorial appointments to universities within and outside of Nigeria, and he enjoys the membership of several professional and academic bodies. OS Adeyemi is a recipient of several awards and fellowships, among which are the NRF Postdoctoral Fellowships at Rhodes University, South Africa (2012); the Rhodes University Postdoctoral Fellowship, South Africa (2013); the TWAS/CNPQ Fellowship, Brazil (2015); and the JSPS Fellowship, Japan (2015 and 2020). He is an expert reviewer for several grant awarding bodies, such as the NRF (National Research Foundation, South Africa) and RSTMH (Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, UK), as well as many academic journals. In addition, OS Adeyemi serves on the editorial board of several academic journals, such as Scientific Reports, BMC Complementary Medicine & Therapies, and PLOS ONE, among others. For extracurricular activities, OS Adeyemi engages in educational and church outreaches, and he likes to play chess.
