Nikoleta Damaskinou
Nikoleta Damaskinou
is a psychologist and educator with extensive expertise in developmental psychology, neuropsychology, and educational research. She currently serves as a Scientific Consultant at the Hellenic Institute for Educational Policy and has a rich academic portfolio, including positions as an External Visiting Lecturer at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the University of Crete as well as lecturer at the City College (York University European Campus). Damaskinou's teaching repertoire spans a wide range of psychology disciplines, such as social cognition, child and adult development, and counseling children and adolescents. Dr. Damaskinou earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London, where her groundbreaking research focused on facial emotion recognition and hemispheric laterality. Her scholarly contributions include publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals. In addition to her academic endeavors, Dr. Damaskinou has held roles in primary and special education, showcasing her commitment to inclusive teaching practices. Her earlier career includes leadership as the head of a primary school in Greece and experience as a Special Education Needs teacher in the UK. Dr. Damaskinou's research interests lie at the intersection of neuropsychology, educational psychology, and developmental science. Her work has been recognized internationally through conference presentations and awards. She is also a published author, with educational resources designed to enhance phonological awareness in young learners. With qualifications spanning an MSc in Occupational Psychology and specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy, and neurotherapy, Dr. Damaskinou continues to bridge the gap between research and practice, making a significant impact on both the academic and educational sectors.
