Neslihan Canpolat-Cig
Dr.
Neslihan Canpolat-Çığ
earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education from Sivas Cumhuriyet University in 2003, her master’s degree in Special Education from Florida State University in 2013, and her Ph.D. in Special Education from Anadolu University in 2024. During her graduate studies she led the project that established the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Laboratory in Florida State University’s College of Education. As the lead research assistant, she also taught applied laboratory courses on AAC in both the Department of Special Education and the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. In 2013 Canpolat-Çığ joined the Florida Department of Education as a senior education coordinator. For roughly five years she directed projects aimed at improving the quality of special-education teachers and services across Florida and served as an active member of the department’s Education Leaders Team. Between 2013 and 2018 she was also a visiting lecturer in Florida State University’s Special Education Teacher Education Program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses titled “Introduction to Special-Education Technologies” and “Augmentative and Alternative Communication Systems.” After returning to Turkey in 2018, she served as Director of Education Research and Development at the Tohum Autism Foundation from 2019 to 2021. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University.
