Mrutyunjay Suar

Mrutyunjay Suar is a Professor and Director of the School of Biotechnology at KIIT University, India. He also currently serves as the CEO of Technology Business Incubator and Director R&D cell at KIIT University. He received the degree of MSc from Goa University, India in 1999 and PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Delhi, India in 2003. Thereafter, he worked at Institute of Microbiology, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, until 2007, as post-doctoral fellow. He has been a visiting fellow at several prestigious institutions such as UCLA (USA), EPFL & EAWAG (Switzerland), UC-Berkley (USA). His research interests centre on developing a recombinant safe mucosal vaccine candidate against enterocolitic pathogens using Salmonella typhimurium as a model organism. He has also explored the differential virulence properties of Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis. His research is mostly translational in nature and he believes in developing platform technologies for common man, which are sustainable and user friendly. He has published 30 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and promoting 7 start up companies in the areas of biotechnology and engineering.
