Melissa J. Saligari

Dr. Melissa Saligari is an Education-focussed Lecturer in the School of BioSciences at The University of Melbourne, Australia, where she specialises in genetics and foundational biology education. Mel completed her doctoral degree in developmental genetics before undertaking further graduate studies in education and university teaching. Mel is passionate about designing and delivering highly engaging student-focussed learning experiences, and leverages evidence-based pedagogy in combination with discipline-specific knowledge to drive assessment reform and curriculum innovation across undergraduate biology and genetics, particularly in large-cohort contexts. These contributions to teaching have been recognised in Mel’s appointment as the Deputy Director of Teaching and Learning for her School, and as a Student Success lead at Faculty level.
