Martha Chadyiwa

Martha Chadyiwa is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Health at the University of Johannesburg. She a registered Environmental Health Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science. She has an MBA in Environmental Management from Twente University and completed an Honors in Leadership at the University of Johannesburg. She completed her PhD with the University of the Witwatersrand. From 2013 to 2017, she served as the HOD for the Department of Environmental Health and was involved in creating and developing content for the online Master of Public Health at the University of Johannesburg, which she currently coordinates. She has been an Adjunct lecturer at Witwatersrand University, MANCOSA and Lyceum and has published papers on occupational and environmental health in nationally and internationally accredited journals. Throughout her career, she has supervised over 20 Masters students to completion, and has received numerous accolades, including being the 2021 winner of South Africa's InspiringFifty women in STEM. She is involved in several international collaborations, including serving as vice-chair of the U21 Sustainable Development Goals committee. Her research focuses on occupational and environmental health, including how artificial intelligence impacts these fields.
