Mariam Oyinde Bakare

Bakare Mariam Oyinade is a passionate aquaculture advocate and a graduate of Fisheries Production from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, Nigeria. She currently serves as the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) Global Student Director (2024/2025), where she contributes to student engagement and leadership in the sector. Mariam has a strong record of leadership, having served as both Vice President and President of the Fisheries Student Association at her university, and as the Student Secretary for the WAS West African Chapter (WAS-WAR). She is deeply committed to personal growth, knowledge sharing, and the advancement of aquaculture across Africa. Mariam has volunteered with several aquaculture-related initiatives and organizations, where she has supported awareness, training, and community outreach programs. With plans to pursue a master’s degree, she remains focused on building a career centered on sustainable aquaculture development, youth mentorship,and capacity building in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
