Maria de Lourdes Machado-Taylor

Maria de Lourdes Machado-Taylor (also goes under the name Maria de Lourdes Fidalgo Machado), holds a PhD in Business Sciences (Areas of Marketing and Strategies), Pos-Graduate Studies in Management of Higher Education (both from Minho University) and a Bachelors in Economics from Porto University. Currently, Machado-Taylor serves as a Professor at Lusófona University (UL) and directs the Institutional Development Office (GDI) at the Lusófona Group. She is also a Senior Researcher at the Center for Research on Higher Education Policies (CIPES) and Collaborating Researcher at Centro de Estudos Interdisciplinares em Educação e Desenvolvimento - CeEID- (Lusofona University). Serves as an expert TAIEX- Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. Previously, she worked for twelve years as a researcher and project manager at the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) in Portugal. Throughout her career, Machado-Taylor has coordinated and contributed to numerous multidisciplinary and multi-institutional research projects. These projects have been funded by organizations such as the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Gulbenkian Foundation, Capes (Brazil), the African Development Bank, and the European Commission (EEA Grants). Has supervised and co-supervised and is supervising Ph.D. and Master students, contributing significantly to the academic community. Received research scholarships from both the Gulbenkian Foundation (Portugal) and Fulbright (USA). Her research has addressed topics like accreditation/evaluation; governance and management, the impact of higher education on quality of life, academic careers, leadership, and strategies. Her list of publications is long and strong. Author and co-author of more than 300 indicators of scientif produtction including articles in specialized journals, book chapters, and books. Reviewer to scientif journals and scientif conferences and integrates the scientif committee of national and international conferences. Machado-Taylor is affiliated with several international and portuguese organizations, including the European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS), Consortium of Higher Education Researchers (CHER), Associação Portuguesa de Mulheres Cientistas (AMONET), The European Higher Education Society (EAIR) Associação Portuguesa de Management (APM) and Fulbright Allumni.
