Laura E. Whitfield

Laura Whitfield , M.Ed. is the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist over Secondary Campuses in Humble Independent School District. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education from Stephen F. Austin State University (2009) and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas (2015). In fall 2025, she will begin pursuing a Ph.D. in Critical Studies in the Education of Deaf Learners at Gallaudet University. With over 17 years of experience in Deaf Education, Laura has served in a wide range of roles, including Parent/Infant Advisor, Early Childhood Educator, and Deaf Education teacher across elementary, middle, and high school settings. Her experience spans self-contained classrooms, in-class support, and itinerant service models in rural, suburban, and urban districts. Laura’s work is grounded in a deep commitment to supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and their families through every stage of development. She is passionate about empowering educators and families to navigate the complexities of Deaf Education with confidence and compassion. Through her contributions, she hopes to foster a greater understanding of the diverse experiences of Deaf learners and promote practices that lead to lasting empowerment and inclusion.
