Lara Vélez-González
is Professor in the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences at the University San Pablo-CEU. Principal researcher of the consolidated group ICOIDI (Research in Communication through Image and Design). Responsible for line 3 'Communication and New Technologies' in the Social Communication program of the International Doctoral School CEINDO. She has been director of the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at USP-CEU (2015-2019), academic secretary of the same (2007-2015), director of the Informative Graphics section (2007-2015) and director of the Research Support Service of USP-CEU SAI-CA (2015-2017). PhD in Information Sciences from the UCM, her research revolves around the design of periodicals and the typographic evolution of newspapers and magazines. Author of more than thirty articles in indexed journals specialized in Communication, six books and more than forty chapters in collective works. She has curated three exhibitions on Design and Typography. Her undergraduate teaching activity focuses on the subjects 'Fundamentals of Design', 'Journalistic Design' and 'Graphic Communication and New Narratives', in the Communication Degrees at USP-CEU. As a postgraduate lecturer, she has been linked to the PhD program in Social Communication at the CEINDO International School since 2016, having taught in the previous PhD program since 2010. She has also been and is a guest lecturer in different official masters related to publication design Master in Editorial Design (Istituto Europeo di Design. IED), Master in Fashion and Beauty Communication. Telva & Yo Dona (Unidad Editorial USP-CEU), Master in Corporate Communication Arts and Master in Graphic Design (TRACOR/USP-CEU). Similarly, and seeking to reinforce a research coherence, during the last years, she has been able to participate in some projects and contracts where she has researched and produced on issues related to the processes of graphic design of information. All this scientific production has been taken to more than one hundred national and international congresses, with the presentation of communications, papers or invited lectures. In 2018 and in 2021 he obtained the First Prize for Teaching Innovation awarded by the USP-CEU. He has two sexenios of research recognized and has directed more than a dozen doctoral theses. Member of the Research Commission of the Faculty of Humanities and Communication Sciences and of the Teaching Innovation Commission of the USP-CEU (2020-2022). Member of the SEP (Spanish Society of Journalism), AE-IC (Spanish Association of Communication Research) and DI_MAD (Madrid Designers Association). This research and teaching career has been reinforced with more than thirty years of experience as a design and graphic communication consultant in different companies and institutions.
