Kim Cowan

Kim Cowan is the Student Rights and Responsibilities Manager in Student Affairs for the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC). She graduated from California State University, San Marcos where she received a BA in Literature and Writing and completed her MA in English at National University. She was a professional soccer coach in San Diego for twelve years, coaching children under eight to adults at Palomar Community College. After four years at Palomar she began working for Ashford University as an Instructional Specialist, finding her passion for education and the adult student experience. She became a Manager in the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning supporting and coaching online faculty. Within that role she collaborated with Student Conduct and the Behavioral Intervention Team and when an opportunity opened to continue her growth within Student Affairs, she pursued it. In her current role, she oversees Student Conduct, Academic Resolution, and Co-Chairs the Behavioral Intervention Team. Throughout her time in Student Affairs, she has helped revamp processes to focus on the student’s individual experience and more on student development and support. She believes that there are multiple ways to support our students and it takes meaningful interactions, supportive communication, and a community approach to help adult learners navigate a successful student experience.
