Kemmonye Collete Monaka

Kemmonye Collette Monaka is an Associate Professor in the Department of English. She obtained a PhD and MA from the University of London, and a BA from the University of Botswana. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and has published various works including academic and non-academic articles, a book and book chapters. She has published in a number of journals including Anthropological Linguistics, African Journal of Research and Development, Journal of the Linguistics Association of Southern African Development Community [SADC] Universities, South African Journal of African Languages (SAJAL), Journal for Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences, among others. She has received research awards, grants, and scholarships, the latest of which is the Comité International Permanent des Linguistes Endangered Language Prize awarded in July 2018 at the 20th International Congress of Linguists in Cape Town. She edited and co-edited Pula: Botswana Journal of African Studies, is in the Editorial Board of Marang: Journal of Language and Literature, and is the Chief Editor of Mosenodi: International Journal of Educational Studies. She is a reviewer for various journal including Journal of Humanities, SAJAL, and Journal of the Linguistics Association of SADC Universities (LASU). She is currently collaborating with the Lutheran Bible Translators in translating the Bible into Shekgalagari.
