Karen T. Odhiambo
Karen T. Odhiambo
has a 30-year career in performance determination in learning and development perspectives. She comes from the background of Education Psychology, measurement and evaluation tradition. She began her career as a secondary school teacher and then joined the University of Nairobi. She has a B.Ed Degree, University of Nairobi(1981); Masters in Education _ Measurement and Evaluation from University of Calgary Canada(1989); Ph. D in Education Psychology, University of Nairobi(2004). She has been involved in professional work on performance arising from her background in program evaluation and also as a consultant in education areas and social development. Throughout her career of teaching and training almost exclusively adult learners, Dr. Odhiambo has identified one common thing that there is direct contrast with traditional ways of learning. She believes that this observation arising from experience makes alternative practices like competency-based learning and educating critical to today’s circumstances in sustainable circumstances that are yet to be conceptualized. Thus the need to come up with learning strategies such as microlearning with games-based pedagogy as a curriculum activity is of interest and concern. She looks forward to contributing knowledge in this area.
