Karen Escalante
Karen Escalante
is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education at California State University San Bernardino where she teaches pedagogical courses grounded in social justice and humanizing pedagogy. Karen is the president-elect for the California Council on Teacher Education (CCTE), serves as part of the research team and advisory board for UCLA’s Center for the Transformation of School’s California Educator Diversity Project, and serves as a member of AACTE’s Program Advisory Committee on Educator Diversity (PACED). Her research focuses on the through line between Culturally Responsive Teaching and teaching performance assessments, teacher candidate / in-service teacher belonging, and operating within the third space (boundary spanning) to support P-12 and teacher preparation programs.
