Julie Richards

Dr. Julie Richards , is Associate Professor of Social Work and Chair of the Department of Social Work at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She draws on more than thirty years of practice experience in educational, health, and behavioral health settings. Dr. Richards holds a Ph.D. in International Family and Community Studies from Clemson University and an MSW from McGill University. Her research focuses on international development, global public health, social inclusion, and practice, with an emphasis on intercultural and interprofessional growth opportunities, as well as resilience-building and inclusive education. Dr. Richards has led multiple program development and accreditation efforts, serves on editorial and advisory boards, and has published in both national and international journals. She is also a visiting faculty member at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Her work demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, applied scholarship, and global engagement in social work education and practice.
