Jorja Wright
"JORJA WRIGHT is a doctoral student in the Executive Leadership program at the University of Charleston School of Business and Leadership. She received her MBA from the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business at Florida Institute of Technology, concentrating in healthcare management. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from University of Alabama-Huntsville (UAH) in 2011. During her undergraduate career, she participated in the Alabama Louis Stokes for Minority Participation (ALSAMP) summer internship program. As an ALSAMP summer intern, she worked in the department of biological sciences at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Ms. Wright assisted her mentor in analyzing the biochemical effects of hypoxia (oxygen-void) induced environments on neonatal mice lungs and analyzed the protein activity of the sample mice. She was also an undergraduate student research laboratory assistant in the biology department at UAH. Ms. Wright and her mentor studied the RNAi biological process and the role of Argonaute protein molecules in the fungus Laccaria bicolor (L. bicolor).
During her graduate school tenure, Ms. Wright has published various peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings on cybersecurity, information technology (IT), health IT, healthcare management, and leadership. Her first publication entitled, “Cybersecurity and Mobile Threats: The Need for Antivirus Applications for Smart Phones,” explains the need for national security policy implementation in order to protect sensitive data contained within the memory of smartphones. Her most recent publication is entitled “A Theory of Situated Creativity and Organizational Dynamic Capabilities” published in International E-Journal of Advances in Social Sciences. In the paper, Ms. Wright describes how organizations can improve their sustainability by applying eastern, pragmatic tenets such as situated creativity (SC) to their leadership toolkit. In the end, this concept can be borrowed by the healthcare industry in order to combat the many changes (technological, environmental, medical, and political) within healthcare and improve the industry’s dynamic capabilities in the long run.
Ms. Wright has also presented her research at different conferences including: Intellectbase International Consortium Academic Conference, Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy, Alabama Academy of Science, American Meridian University International Interdisciplinary Academic and Business 2015 Conference (AMUIIABC). Additionally, she is a member of National Society of Leadership and Success, Intellectbase International Consortium, Alabama Academy of Sciences, American Telemedicine Association, Black Doctoral Network, and Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Ms. Wright’s dissertation research interest includes addressing the lack of management and administrative leadership skillsets included in the current medical education curriculum and the administrative roles that some physicians eventually pursue. Her hope is that this dissertation provides possible implications on changing career dynamics within the medical field and influences wide spread change within the medical education curriculum."
