Jie Shi Liew
Jie Shi Liew
(pronounced J-She Lyoo) is currently a doctoral candidate at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, who is expected to defend her dissertation and graduate in May 2025. She has had three years of teaching experience as a math instructor for the entry-level college course MATH101 at SIUC Achieve Program, teaching neurodiverse students with different learning disabilities. Similarly, she also taught graduate-level basic statistics course QUAN402 for another two years at SIUC School of Education. Jie-Shi’s works include creating new lesson plans with project-based assignments and using storytelling techniques to engage both low- and high-performing students in her class, a mixture of undergraduate and graduate students from both science and non-science disciplines enrolling in the same course. She is a huge advocate for statistical literacy in everyday life to make informed choices.
