Jesus Barrena-Martinez

Jesús Barrena-Martinez holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Cádiz (Spain), where he currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Organization. He also acts as director of the department and is affiliated with the Instituto Europeo de Sostenibilidad en Gestión (iESG). His doctoral dissertation, which examined the impact of socially responsible human resource configurations on business performance through intellectual capital, was recognized as the best doctoral thesis in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the Santander Chair of the University of Málaga in 2014. His research focuses on CSR, sustainable human resource management, and organizational behavior, with special attention to the expectations of new generations in leadership and workplace fairness. He has authored or co-authored more than 15 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals such as the Journal of Business Research, The International Journal of Human Resource Management, and Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management. In addition, he has published numerous book chapters, acted as a reviewer and editorial board member for several journals, and regularly presents his work at international academic conferences. He has also served as associate editor for Review of Business Management (RBGN), Tourism & Management Studies (TMS), and The Bottom Line (TBL) since 2018. Prof. Barrena Martínez has contributed as the main editor of several international academic volumes published by IGI Global, addressing contemporary challenges in business sustainability, responsible management, and human capital. He has coordinated and participated in research projects funded by national and regional agencies, and he actively supports international academic cooperation as an Erasmus coordinator and mentor. His teaching includes undergraduate and graduate courses in human resource management, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, with a long-standing commitment to curriculum innovation and ethical business education.
