Jane E. Fountain

Jane E. Fountain is Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is the founder and director of the National Center for Digital Government. Fountain is the author of numerous scholarly articles, papers and reports and author of Building the Virtual State: Information Technology and Institutional Change (Brookings Institution Press, 2001). She has been a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the Future of Government since 2007. She was chair of the Council in 2010-11 and vice chair in 2011-12 and coauthored the Forum report, The Future of Government: Lessons Learned from around the World. She is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
