James William Thomas

James W. Thomas , Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the higher education program at the University of Southern Mississippi. His publications and work experiences have focused on student affairs, academic advising, historically marginalized populations in higher education and histories of higher education. He is a graduate of the Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation program of the University of Kentucky, where he earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education and a Master of Science degree in Social and Philosophical Studies in Higher Education. Much of his research and publication efforts seek to serve the purpose of restorative history, engaging and returning missing histories and experiences to the study and research communities related to education.
