Haytham Mohamed Salem

Haytham Mohamed Salem obtained his PhD from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain) in 2014. His PhD thesis was about the effects of conservation tillage systems on soil properties and erosion control in arid and semi-arid regions. Currently, he is working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Soil and Water Systems, University of Idaho, USA. As well as, he had worked as a researcher of Soil and Water Conservation at the Desert Research Center (DRC, Egypt) for more than fourteen years. During his work Dr. Haytham Salem has contributed significantly to reduce soil erosion and increase rainwater use efficiency and the resulting sedimentation and understanding the behavior of soil erosion, which is of particular importance to control the degradation of productive soils in the Mediterranean region. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in improving soil health and crop production using sustainable soil and water management and restoration practices under rainfed and irrigation conditions.
