Hamadah Ashfiya
is a Master’s candidate in Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics at the University of Sydney and a recipient of the Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit (BIB) scholarship. This work is fundamentally informed by her own trajectory from a foundational education within Indonesia’s integrated Islamic school system to a contemporary institution. Prior to her postgraduate studies, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Letters from Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim. Since 2023, Fiya has taught English and has worked as an interpreter, facilitating cross-cultural communication in academic and professional training contexts between Australian and Indonesian stakeholders. Her research explores emergent themes at the intersection of autoethnography, the sociology of knowledge, critical applied linguistics, and discourse analysis. She also contributes to academic outreach, having presented as a speaker at educational fairs.
