H. Carol Greene

H. Carol Greene is an associate professor in the Department of Elementary Education and Middle Grades Education at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and English from Morehead State University, a Master’s in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, and a PhD in Educational Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic and State University. She taught in both private and public schools for ten years before pursuing her PhD and beginning her work in higher education where she has now worked for 17 years. Dr. Greene currently serves as the Associate Chair and Graduate Director for the Department of Elementary Education and Middle Grades Education at ECU. Dr. Greene’s research expertise is in teaching children from poverty and the impacts of poverty/trauma on education. She also has conducted research on technology in teacher education. She has given numerous presentations in her areas of expertise at International, National, Regional, and State conferences and is widely published in her areas of research as well, with more than 30 publications in a variety of academic journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings.
