Grace Gutierrez

Grace Gutierrez is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word and is serving as a Fellow with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and University (HACU). Her areas of study include change leadership, organizational change, and the impact of third party consultation on the change process. She currently teaches courses on Effective Teams & Groups, History and Philosophy of Higher Education, and Capstone courses for graduate students. Prior to her work at UIW, she worked as a practitioner in K-12 leadership and management in educational administration, systems evaluation, and strategic planning. She has held positions with the Texas Education Agency, the Department of Defense Education Activity, McREL International, and as a college instructor for new teacher educators. She has served educational leaders across the contiguous United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Japan, and Germany. She currently holds a position on the Board of Directors for the Boulder County I Have a Dream Foundation. As a doctoral student Dr. Gutierrez, worked with the Center for Organizational Change and wrote her dissertation on the impact of external consultation on the organization and change agents on the Campus Snapshot, a process used as the needs assessment instrument across the state of Texas through the Education Service Center, Region XIII. At McREL International she co-wrote a white paper and conducted consultation and facilitation on Peer Coaching. While serving as an instructional and leadership coach with the Achievement Network, she successfully coached the 2022 National Teacher of the Year. Dr. Gutierrez holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Gonzaga University, a Master of Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University, a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin.
